Left Pilgram Hotel at 7:15 am. I was still tired. Headed towards Henley to see the Regatta course. It was beautiful.
Had a little trouble finding the car, headed to London. Traffic very heavy. We drove around for an extra hour trying to find place to return rental car. We were both very frustrated. Don scraped the side of the car on a bus, didn’t know the damage until we returned it. 😬 Luckily he paid for the insurance so we are not liable for damage. Enterprise guy said it was totaled, but I didn’t think it was that back, just scraped all down the left side.
We missed our train at 2:30 to Paris, rescheduled for 4:31 train paying difference of 124£..We were both tempted to take a taxi to Heathrow and just fly back home. Traveling is NOT fun. It’s 4:50 pm now and we are on the Eurostar to Paris. Hopefully, we don’t have problems in France.
Quite the challenging day. Train ride was okay. Didn’t see much of country side. Difficult time at the train station. I almost fell down on the escalator and then I thought I lost my credit card. Finally I asked a police officer if he spoke English “yes, a little”. He told us which letter (B Sud and #42) to take and get off 2nd stop at St Michel-Notre Dame.
It was a 10 min walk to Airbnb. We walked past Notre Dame and honestly I was not impressed. Maybe better in the morning after we’re rested. It’s still being repaired since the fire in 2019.
It’s 10:15 pm now and we may go out to eat, I just want to go to bed, start fresh in the AM.
Went to little shop, bought wine, cheese, crackers. And antibacterial cream and band aids for Don’s arm.
