We arrived in Manchester at one 1:20 am EST. Long walk from the plane to the passport control area. No problems there, picked up our luggage. Took shuttle to the rental car village. We have a red Ford focus with GPS.
Don drove the car on the left-hand side quite well. I navigated. We drove to Worcester. I found Bourlay papers that indicated that members of Don’s family on the Shephard/Bourlay side were buried at Saint Peters in Worcester.
The Rector, Father Peter, told us the medieval Church of Saint Peter’s was torn down. It combined with Saint Martin and is called “Saint Martin with Saint Peter”. The original site of St. Peter’s church is now a parking lot. Father Peter had no idea what happened to the cemetery.
Drove another hour to Hereford. We met Kaylee and Russell at their apartment at 1:30. Went to shopping area near the city center called Old Market. We had lunch at their favorite place, De Coffie Pot on the river Wye. Walked around the area and into beautiful Hereford Cathedral. It is colder, windier than we expected. I tried to find a sweatshirt in a few charity shops.
Walked to an English pub and had some cider and talked for an hour. Took kids back to their apartment and went to our Airbnb. Early night since we didn’t sleep much on the plane. 15 Franks Street, clean, 2 br apartment.
